The 2023/24 season of the Malta Guinness Ghana Women’s Premier League kicked off with enthusiasm, featuring nine thrilling matches spread across the Northern and Southern Zones.

While the reigning champions, Ampem Darkwa Ladies, were absent from the action as they focused on their preparations for the 2023/24 CAF Women’s Champions League, other teams took the opportunity to shine.

In the Northern Zone, four teams secured victories. Fosu Royals Ladies, newly promoted to the league, triumphed over Supreme Ladies with a 2-1 scoreline, courtesy of goals by Charity Ankomah and Gloria Adomako Ameaa.

Tamale Super Ladies claimed a 1-0 victory over Prisons Ladies, with Asana Alhassan netting the decisive goal. Kumasi Sports Academy also secured a 2-1 win against Pearlpia Ladies, and Northern Ladies prevailed over Ashtown Ladies with a score of 1-0.

In the Southern Zone, Army Ladies delivered a spectacular performance, clinching a 3-2 win against Police Ladies, thanks in part to a remarkable brace by Vera Bema.

Faith Ladies and Berry Ladies settled for a 1-1 draw, as did Essiam Socrates and LadyStrikers in their match. Jonina Ladies, newly promoted to the league, faced a tough challenge in their debut game, suffering a defeat at the hands of Soccer Intellectuals.

The return of Mukarama Abdulai to the league was marked with a goal, contributing to Hasaacas Ladies’ victory over Sea Lions. The opening weekend showcased the incredible talent and competitiveness that fans can expect from the 2023/24 Malta Guinness Ghana Women’s Premier League season.
