The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is yet to officially announce Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as its official flagbearer after the provisional results collated from all centres indicate a landslide victory for the Vice President of Ghana.

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia secured a decisive victory, receiving 118,210 votes, representing 61.43% of the total votes cast. Dr. Bawumia’s significant lead underlines his popularity within the party and positions him as the NPP’s chosen candidate for the 2023 elections.

Ken Agyapong, MP for Assin Central, garnered 71,991 votes, accounting for 37.41% of the total vote count, establishing him as a formidable contender in the race.

The other candidates, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto and Ing. Francis Addai Nimoh received 1,459 votes (0.76%) and 781 votes (0.41%), respectively.

With the official results almost to be confirmed, Dr. Bawumia is set to lead the NPP’s campaign efforts in the 2023 General Elections as the party aims to secure another term in office and break the 8-year election cycle jinx.

The results mark a significant milestone in the party’s internal electoral process and provide clarity on the party’s leadership ahead of the upcoming national elections.
