Ghanaian entrepreneur and socialite, Afua Asantewaa, has broken the 105 hour record for the longest singing time attempted by an individual, enroute to creating a new record.

Over the past four days, Ghanaians from far and wide have come to support Afua Asantewaa as she sings songs strictly made from the motherland at the Akwaaba Village, Accra-Ghana.

As at 9:00AM GMT, on Thursday, December 28, 2023, Afua Asantewaa had exceeded the 105 hour record which is held by India’s Sunhil Wagmare and made advancements to create a new record.

Afua Asantewaa has garnered the attention of many people all over the world as she places Ghana on the world map.

However, the Guinness World Records monitoring board expects Afua to comply by the rules that were given for any one who officially attempts the longest singing marathon. These rules include: No piece of music may be repeated within 4 hours; applicant is permitted to take a 5-minutes break every hour or a 20-minutes break after every 4 hours; improvisation or jamming is not allowed; applicants may be accompanied or not accompanied; if accompanied, no musician may play for more than 4 hours after which they must take a break of at least 4 hours: after the attempt, a playlist of all tunes performed must be maintained and submitted with the claim; applications are granted to applicants who are 16+ years and older; Songs sung throughout the attempt must be recognizable and performed to a reasonable standard; singing must be continuous, with only brief pauses of not more than 30 seconds in between the songs; each song performed must last for at least two minutes.

Should any of these rules be flouted, the GWR could round-up and deduct all periods within her attempt which did not meet the standard given, or could disqualify her for flouting any rules that were given.

Today, Thursday, December 28, 2023 marks her fifth day of the singathon attempt, which goes beyond scheduled days for the attempt, from Sunday December 24, 2023 to Wednesday, December 27, 2023.

Afua Asantewaa is in a comfortable lead and sings in an optimistic atmosphere which has been created by many fans to support her in achieving her goal.
