We are convinced 2024 will be filled with economic difficulties – NDC warns

Johnson Aseidu Nketia, the National Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), warns Ghanaians about the economic challenges that the country is expected to face in 2024.

In a press briefing at the party’s headquarters on Monday, January 9, the party outlined key concerns, including, “an expectation of more taxes, mismanagement leading to 850,000 Ghanaians falling into poverty, a lack of joy due to widespread suffering, economic bankruptcy, and defaulting on debt obligations.”

The collapse of the cocoa sector was also highlighted as a significant issue.

Aseidu Nketia squarely blamed the NPP government, labeling it as incompetent.

He insisted that the economic challenges were a result of mismanagement by the ruling party, emphasizing the need for a change in leadership.

In contrast, the NDC expressed confidence in their candidate, former President Mahama, stating, “But Mahama will fix it.”

Aseidu Nketia urged the public to vote massively and convincingly for Mahama, describing him as the leader with vision and empathy, promising the creation of well-paid jobs to address the economic woes foreseen by the party.

The NDC and the ruling NPP are at odds over economic issues as the political climate becomes more intense in the lead-up to the 2024 elections.
