Gov’t must dissolve the Ghana Football Association- Alhaji Grusah

Alhaji Grusah, bankroller for King Faisal Football club, has ignited controversy by advocating for the dissolution of the Ghana Football Association (GFA). Grusah, known for his outspoken views, minced no words in expressing his dissatisfaction with the current state of Ghanaian football and the leadership of the GFA.

In a no-holds-barred exclusive interview on Happy FM’s Anopa Bosuo Sports with Nana Fosu Appiah, Alhaji declared, pointing a direct finger at the GFA’s approach to addressing the challenges faced by the Black Stars.

“We have seen countries like Namibia and others win at least a game in the AFCON this year, and Ghana couldn’t. The best way this GFA can cover up the mess they have made of the national team is to always sack coaches”.

In the aftermath of Ghana’s disappointing exit at the group stages of the AFCON, Grusah placed blame squarely on the GFA’s doorstep, specifically criticizing the continuous coaching changes under the leadership of Kurt Okraku. “The president, Nana Addo, and the Ministry of Sports must stamp their authority and dissolve the current leadership of the FA,” Grusah insisted, accusing the association of devolving into a “friends and family business.”

These bold statements by the seasoned football administrator follow the recent dismissal of Chris Hughton, the fifth coach to face the axe under the current GFA regime from 2019 to 2024.

Under this administration, Ghana has endured a disheartening trend of qualifying for three consecutive tournaments but falling short in their group stage performances. This includes the 2021/2022 AFCON, the 2023 World Cup, and most recently, the ongoing 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast—an unfortunate setback for the four-time AFCON champions.
