The University of Ghana Medical College; Medical Training and Simulation Auditorium, brought together a passionate group of young individuals for the launch of “Maa Lydia Grab A Skill” Program organized by Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuguon, Lydia Seyram Alhassan in partnership with Unik School of Arts And Design

The Ghanaian philanthropist revealed that her primary goal as a Member of Parliament was to reduce the rate of unemployment in the country and touted this initiative as the beginning of greater things to come. “Since Day one of my tenure, I took it upon myself to to provide all youth in my constituency with knowledge in vocational skills; with that done, I believe it is time to extend that vision to the University of Ghana and other youth populated areas to reduce unemployment.” She said.

The initiative, which is set to commence with 100 trainees, will be held for three months with sessions in Graphic Design, Fashion and Design, Digital Marketing and 3D Design

Chief Executive Officer of Unik School of Arts Design, Mustapha Muhammed expressed his profound gratitude to Madam Lydia Alhassan for fully funding the initiative and giving the youth of Ghana an opportunity to earn a living.

According to the design expert, the trainees will be taken through tuition and practicals across the four various disciplines, based on their interests. “This is a journey we have always desired to embark on. Not many people may see the relevance of what you are doing today, but this is the future; the future is in production.”

Executive Chairman of the Geneva International Model United Nations, Phillip Gyamfi, commended the leadership of Unik School of Arts and Design for partaking in this noble cause. “This has always been a long lasting mission of Honorable Lydia Alhassan and today Unik School of Arts and Design has brought this vision to life; this shows that we are truly concerned about the rate of unemployment and the absence of jobs in this country.” He noted.
