Ghana’s capital city, Accra, has been ranked as the number one most polluted city in the world according to a survey from Air Quality Index.

The report from Air Quality Index which has been sighted by Happyghana.com published on Monday, February 5, 2024 shows that Accra has fallen within the hazardous category.

With an AQI ranking of 265, Accra’s Air Quality Index closely followed by Dhaka-Bangladesh and is almost twice as polluted than the third ranked city, Delhi-India.

While two Chinese cities namely Shenyang and Wuhan made the list, Accra was the only African city to have made the list of the top 20 most polluted cities in the World.

Below are the 10 top most polluted cities in the world with their respective AQ1 scores.

Accra is the most polluted city in the world with a 265 ranking and have been violet category which means that the residents in this city are breathing an unhealthy air.

Meanwhile, Portland in the USA with a ranking of 3 is the least polluted city in the world and have been placed in the green category which means that the residents there are breathing good air
