The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) in collaboration with COCOBOD officially commenced the 2024 National Chocolate Week activities with a vibrant health walk and Cocoa House exhibition.

Officials and members of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), Ghana Tourism Federation (GHATOF), and Cocoa Processing Company gathered at the Accra Information Tourist Centre as the starting point of the health walk.

After an exciting health walk, all parties gathered at the Head Office of COCOBOD, Accra to engage in an aerobics session led by fitness coaches from Bea Fitness.

Chief Executive Officer of the GTA, Akwasi Agyeman, as a key partaker of the thrilling event, encouraged Ghanaians to consume locally produced chocolate and include more of Ghana’s cocoa in food service centers and hotels.

Board of Directors Member for COCOBOD, Dr. Edward Ampofo, noted that the intentional focus of these national bodies and agencies on the significance of cocoa, highlights how important cocoa is to citizens and the economy of Ghana. “There is no health condition from the hair to the feet that Cocoa does not have the properties to deal with. Aside the health benefits of cocoa, if we can increase the intake of cocoa, we are contributing to the increase of our nation’s GDP which is good for the economy.”he intimated.

Also present were Ms. Tourism 2023 Queens and patrons to commemorate the highly anticipated annual weeklong celebration.

The 2024 National Chocolate Health week hosts a line up of events to celebrate Ghana’s rich Chocolate and highlight the significance of cocoa in Ghana.
