The Ghana Police Service has launched a thorough investigation into the tragic death of Mr. Eric Johnson, CEO of the renowned Royal Cosy Hills Hotel, famously known as ‘Jirapa Dubai’ in the Upper West Region.

Mr. Johnson’s lifeless body was discovered in a pool of blood on Sunday, February 11, sending shockwaves through the community.

Authorities revealed that the deceased was found in one of the hotel rooms, prompting immediate action from the Regional Crime Scene Management Team. As part of the ongoing investigation, one individual has been detained to aid in the inquiry.

A team of seasoned investigators and experts, led by the Director-General/CID, has been deployed by the Inspector-General of Police to collaborate with the Upper West Regional Police Command, ensuring a comprehensive examination of the circumstances surrounding Mr. Johnson’s demise.

The news of the alleged murder surfaced through a Facebook post by Kennedy Mornah, a regional reporter known to have close ties with the deceased CEO. Mornah’s post lamented the tragic incident, hinting at a sorrowful start to the year.

Speculation surrounding the motive behind Mr. Johnson’s murder has led to unconfirmed reports linking it to chieftaincy disputes in the Jirapa District, his hometown.

Sources suggest that Mr. Johnson might have been involved in a contentious plan to influence the selection of a chief in the Jirapa traditional area, enraging certain factions within the royal family.

Allegations indicate that Mr. Johnson’s actions provoked ire among members of the royal family and other stakeholders, who accused him of meddling in the traditional processes.

A petition reportedly warned Mr. Johnson against jeopardizing the peace and stability of the area, emphasizing that the chieftaincy stool was not to be manipulated or auctioned off.
