Ivory Coast secured a historic Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title on home soil, staging a remarkable comeback to defeat Nigeria 2-1, with Franck Kessie and Sebastien Haller delivering crucial second-half goals.

The hosts, displayed resilience as Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong broke the deadlock against the run of play in the first half, putting Nigeria ahead.

However, Ivory Coast swiftly responded, with Kessie rising to nod in from a corner just after the hour mark, setting the stage for Haller’s decisive contribution.

The towering striker connected with a precise Simon Adingra cross, showcasing impeccable technique to secure the victory and propel Ivory Coast to their third AFCON title, their first on home soil.
