A radio worker in Tamale was stripped naked and beaten with sticks and stones by angry members of local movie makers in the region after they him accused of obscene remarks during live interview on radio.
Adam Mustapha (DJ Staff), a DJ with North Star radio is currently being treated at hospital for multiple injuries after he was rescued from the ruthless ‘jaws’ of the local actors who claimed he made filthy statement that ladies traded sex with film producers and directors before they were assigned roles.
DJ Staff was lured to a location by the actors after the regional president of the actors association Yushawu Jahanfo called him immediately after the show to express displeasure about the alleged comment.
The attackers told him they needed him to produce a movie jingle and wanted a meeting to deliberate on production and fee. They succeeded in convincing the unsuspecting DJ to a lonely location where some armed members laid ambush.
Surprisingly, when the DJ showed up, three young men sitting on motorbikes confronted him and begun to question him about the alleged comments which they said was false and disgraceful.
According to the DJ before he could provide answers to the query about twenty armed men stormed out from the bush and attacked and physically assaulted him with sticks and other objects.
The assault went on for several minutes until an elder intervened and pleaded on his behalf. The attackers fled before police came to the scene.
“My whole body is paining me. I hardly talk for long, and my breath isn’t enough when I talk for long. The attention of an old man on a tricycle was drawn to the scene that saved me from being lynched.”
DJ Staff said he would pursue the matter with all his might to ensure the attackers are brought to book after denying the accusation.
Police arrested president of the association but later granted him bail. He has been asked to provide the attackers identified by the DJ to the police on Monday, 3 April, 2017.
Speaking to Kasapa News, the president, Mr. Jahanfo condemned the attack saying the association does not support any form of violent act against people doing their work and promised to hand over the people identified in the assault.
He however pleaded with radio workers to also be guided and decorous when making statement during live shows.
