President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has emphasized Ghana’s commitment to maintaining safety and security, amidst growing concerns about extremism in neighboring countries.

President Akufo-Addo in his State of the Nation address delivered on Tuesday, February 27, highlighted the government’s deliberate planning aimed at safeguarding the nation from the unrest and extremism plaguing other parts of West Africa.

He reassured the public that Ghana has remained unaffected due to these strategic measures.

During his address, the President underscored the prioritization of resources and welfare for the armed forces and all security agencies, ensuring they are adequately equipped to handle any potential threats.

He specifically praised the efforts of the police force, noting that they are now better equipped than ever before.

Addressing the escalating conflict in Bawku, Upper East Region, President Akufo-Addo acknowledged the gravity of the situation, stating that Ghana can no longer afford to take its territorial integrity for granted in light of regional instability.

The President’s remarks come amidst mounting pressure on government to address the conflict in Bawku promptly and decisively. Critics have urged swift action, emphasizing the urgency of the situation.

President Akufo-Addo’s assurance of the nation’s safety and security serves to allay fears and instill confidence in Ghana’s ability to navigate regional challenges. However, his acknowledgment of the conflict in Bawku reflects the government’s awareness of the need for proactive measures to maintain stability within the country’s borders.
