President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has rebutted criticisms from the minority NDC party, emphasizing tangible advancements in electricity connectivity across Ghana, while also addressing ongoing concerns about power outages colloquially known as ‘dumsor’.
In a pointed jab at the minority, President Akufo-Addo dismissed the notion that mere vocal protests could erase the strides made in Ghana’s energy sector.
Highlighting achievements in his 2024 SoNA, President Akufo-Addo revealed that 207 communities were connected to the national grid last year alone.
“Currently, an impressive 88.85 percent of Ghanaians are now connected to the national grid, marking substantial progress in improving access to electricity across the country,” he added.
Despite these advancements, concerns persist regarding intermittent power outages.
The President’s remarks come amidst ongoing debates surrounding Ghana’s energy landscape, with both praise for achievements and calls for further improvement.
