The 2024 Paragliding Festival in Kwahu has reached exciting new heights, breaking records with a staggering 49% surge in attendance compared to the previous year.

A total of 7,463 spectators flocked to witness the awe-inspiring spectacle of skilled pilots soaring through the skies.

This thrilling event, headed by the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), not only offered breathtaking experiences but also provided a significant boost to the local economy.

According to the official report from the GTA, the festival witnessed a total of 138 tandem flights, allowing passengers from around the world to experience the beauty of Kwahu from a bird’s-eye view. Seven skilled pilots from across the globe, including Ghana’s very own Isaac Mensah, took participants on unforgettable journeys through the skies.

Making the event even more remarkable, Isaac Mensah successfully completed his first solo flight, soaring from the majestic Odweanoma Mountain to a smooth landing at the Nkawkaw Stadium.

The report further indicated that the Kwahu Paragliding Festival played a crucial role in supporting the local Kwahu community. The influx of visitors generated revenue for hotels, food vendors, and transportation services. This economic boom extended to job creation, boosting tourism-related businesses in the region.

The captivated audience and the overall improved experience at the site, attributed to enhanced safety measures by the GTA, solidified the festival’s position as a must-visit attraction.

“The escalating number of spectators signifies a growing interest in paragliding,” stated Mr. Akwasi Agyeman, CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority. He concluded by expressing his gratitude to all stakeholders, including the Kwahu Traditional Council and the Kwahu South, East and West Assemblies, for their contributions to the event’s success.

The 2024 Kwahu Paragliding Festival not only delivered an unforgettable experience for participants but also served as a testament to the Ghana Tourism Authority’s commitment to promoting domestic tourism and empowering local communities. With its sights set high, the GTA promises even greater heights for the festival in the years to come.
