Ghanaian international Michael Essien was drowned in a fit of anger on Saturday when an opponent struck at a ball at him in a game Persib Bandung lost 2-1 to Bali United.
Essien, who came off the bench in the second half, was seen chasing Bali United star Yabes Roni for striking the ball at him which the ‘Bison’ thought was deliberate.
He was eventually calmed by his players and the match officials, and while Roni was dismissed, a late goal by Raphael Maitimo wasn’t enough to save a draw for the Indonesian heavyweights.
