The Memorandum of Understanding was signed on Friday, June 7, 2024 at the Ghana Tourism Authority Head Office to officially recognize GhanaWeb as an official media partner of the Ghana Tourism Authority.

The collaboration, endorsed by the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Akwasi Agyeman and the Chief Executive Officer of GhanaWeb, David Antwi will be essential in promoting tourism, cultural exchange, and diaspora engagement through GhanaWeb’s wider reach and strong diaspora readership.

Mr. Akwasi Agyeman described GhanaWeb as a platform with an impressive reach to the diaspora, an advantage which will strengthen both organizations to properly market and promote Ghana.

The proposed areas of this partnership include the Return Conversations platform to facilitate and broadcast deliberations on matters of the diaspora with stakeholders, a cross promotion of GTA’s annual ‘December in GH’ campaign, creating an impressive mileage for the campaign and the introduction of a well-decked ‘Beyond The Return’ page on the GhanaWeb, as a catalogue that will feature relevant content, including articles, interviews, events and success stories related to diaspora engagement, investment, and cultural exchange.

Mr. David Antwi while making his remarks expressed his uttermost interest in the partnership and looked forward to a deeper and long lasting partnership with the Ghana Tourism Authority. “We are thrilled to partner with the Ghana Tourism Authority to promote the beauty and cultural richness of Ghana. As the leading news website in Ghana, we have a significant platform to inspire and inform travellers about the incredible opportunities for exploration and adventure in our country. This partnership aligns with our commitment to contributing to the growth and development of Ghana’s tourism sector.”

The Memorandum also includes the utilization of the GhanaWeb platform by GTA to coordinate social media campaigns between “Beyond the Return” and December in GH inspiring stories, event updates, and engaging visuals will be shared, encouraging user-get content using relevant GTA hashtags.

Also, GTA’s extensive partnership with Ghana Investment Promotion Company (GIPC), will use the GhanaWeb’s platform to promote investment opportunities in Ghana. Areas such as tourism, real estate, agriculture, and technology, encouraging diaspora investors to set up business ventures in the country.
