The Ministry of Roads and Highways has announced measures to alleviate traffic congestion on the Kasoa-Winneba section of the Accra-Cape Coast Highway, which is currently undergoing dualization. In response to concerns raised by road users and the minority caucus, the ministry has advertised a bypass to ease commuting on the stretch.

During a site visit by the Roads and Transport Committee of Parliament on Thursday ,27th June 2024, the Chief Director of the Ministry of Roads and Highways, Dr. Abass Awolu, outlined safety measures implemented by government to ensure the safe passage of commuters.

Mr. Abass noted that after completion, it would ease vehicular traffic congestion to boost tourism, education and commerce.

The construction of the road involves 16 kilometres of service roads, the construction of interchanges at Budumburam, Awutu Bereku and Akotsi junctions, as well as a flyover at Sapato.

It also includes the construction of 16 footbridges ,15 box and 51 pipe culverts, and walkways. Extra service lanes would also be provided at all entry points to the main dualised road to assist commercial drivers to pick up and drop off passengers.
