NDC flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, has visited La Dadekotopon to pay his respect to the people, chiefs and elders of the La Traditional Council.

Speaking to the chiefs and elders of the community he said, “I want to thank all of you for this short notice and the warm welcome I’ve received. This visit is just to show my respect to my constituency because everybody knows my constituency is La Dadekotopon”.“I’ve come here several times. I’m not a stranger to this palace but today I said let me come to pay a pre homowo visit just to thank you for hosting me in the community and accepting me as one of yours and to say a happy new year to you” the former president said.

According to him, his wife and children vote in the constituency and everyone is aware.“We also came to speak to our party supporters and say hello to the people in the town but we can’t do that without coming to the palace so this is our first mode of call to come and pay our respects to the owners of the land and ask for permission to be able to do that” he added. He emphasized that all the times he has been to the palace was either to campaign for general elections or primaries but this one has nothing to do with the campaign yet. “The campaign is coming.

It’s going to be launched this month and once we launch the campaign we’re going to come in our full political regalia to come and talk to the people”.“I know that there are many things on your chest and I can assure you that we’ll see what we can do to make sure that we resolve all the issues that you face. I’ve already announced that when we come we’re going to set up a commission of enquiry to look into the looting of Ga lands and to make a recommendation as to what government should do to stop the elimination of lands of the Ga people”.

He stated that he has already announced that and it’ll be seen in the manifesto when the manifesto is outdoored next month.“I wish you a happy homowo and I’ll come and spend the homowo with you all. I’ll come and eat kpekpele but before the homowo, I’ll send my contribution so we can prepare for the homowo”.“Finally I’ll like to thank you for taking care of my little sister Rita Naa Odoley. She’s been a wonderful MP and I know that she’s your own daughter and for the good work that she’s done you will send her to Parliament to continue to support”.

He noted that even with her government in opposition she’s working hard and believes that she’ll do more when the NDC comes into office.“I know that NDC is going to win the election and when we win the election she’s going to do more for the people of La Dadekotopon I thank you all”.
