President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has strongly rejected suggestions to replace political party manifestos with a national development plan. He emphasized that manifestos are essential to a country’s progress, as they outline the unique vision and policies of each party, driving innovation and improvement.

Abandoning manifestos would hinder the country’s development momentum, the President argued, highlighting the importance of political parties’ contributions to national growth through their policy proposals.

Addressing the National Development Planning Commission on Tuesday, July 16 at Jubilee House led by Proffessor Gyan Baffour, Board Chairman of NDPC who presented a new Long-term National Development Perspective Framework, dubbed VISION 2057 to the President of the Republic. President Akufo-Addo urged that suggestions to abandon political party manifestos be disregarded.

He cited the successful implementation of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagship Free SHS policy as a prime example, highlighting that this achievement would not have been possible without the party’s manifesto.

The President emphasized that manifestos serve as a vital roadmap for policy initiatives, and their absence would hinder progress.
