Ghana health services confirms 36 Cases of Dengue outbreak

The Ghana health service has confirmed 36 new cases of Dengue fever in the Eastern and Central Regions.

According to the service, the cases were detected in the communities by health workers using the appropriate case definition.

In a press statement dated 17th July 2024, one out of the confirmed 36 Cases was admitted but discharged whiles the remaining are all being managed at home and are stable.

The Ghana health service is entreating the general public especially the affected communities in the aforementioned regions to report to the nearest health facility when experiencing severe headache, Body ache, Nausea or vomiting, rash and high fever.

Notwithstanding, the general population should avoid mosquito bites by wearing protective clothing, use mosquito repellents, sleep under treated mosquito nets and other precautions in order not to be infected.

The Ghana health service is undertaking activities such as orientation of clinicians on the case definition at all levels including CHPS compound, engaging Stakeholders thus District health management teams, M/DCEs and chiefs, community durbars and risk communication in the affected districts to curb the outbreak.
