Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam has revealed the government has allocated nearly GHC10 billion to the Road Sector since January 2024.

During the Mid-Year Budget Review presentation in Parliament on Tuesday, July 23, he highlighted this significant investment is aimed at upgrading transportation infrastructure and stimulating economic growth. In addition to this funding, the government has also procured essential equipment to support local authorities in their efforts to upgrade community roads across the country, further demonstrating its commitment to improving road networks and enhancing connectivity nationwide.

Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, showcased several key road projects that are advancing steadily, including the Ofankor-Nsawam Road upgrade, the Keta Water Supply project, the Obetsebi Lamptey and Flower Pot Interchanges development, the construction of three by-passes on the Kumasi-Accra Highway, and the Tema Mpakadan Railway Line development. These projects demonstrate the government’s commitment to improving Ghana’s transportation infrastructure and enhancing connectivity across the country.

He revealed that the government has successfully completed two significant airport projects: the newly constructed Prempeh II International Airport in Kumasi and the upgraded Tamale International Airport, also referred to as the Yakubu Tali Airport. These completed projects mark a major milestone in the government’s efforts to enhance Ghana’s aviation infrastructure and improve air travel connectivity.
