Some Ghanaian men have applauded the government over proposed paternity bill that was announced on Tuesday by finance Minister Dr. Amin Adam during 2024 Mid- year Budget presentation. According to them, it is very good for men to be by their wives side after giving birth to assist her with errands in and around the house.

Speaking to Happyghana.com some were of the view that leaving a nursing mother alone at home because of work is not the best and paternity leave will go a long way to help fathers bond with their new born babies. Minister for Finance, Dr. Amin Adam stated in his mid- year budget presentation in parliament stated that government in collaboration with social partners have developed a draft Labour Bill 2024 to strengthen labour which will improve labour migration governance and employment.

The paternity bill will allow eligible male workers to apply for paternity leave within three months and upon approval the employer is required to grant a minimum of five days of paternity leave effective from the specified date of application.
