The National Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi has made a bold pledge to farmers, assuring them that the party’s 24-hour economy policy will bring about a significant transformation in the Agriculture sector. In a recent radio interview on a Tamale-based station, ahead of the NDC’s National Campaign launch on July 27, Sammy Gyamfi emphasized the party’s unwavering commitment to agriculture, highlighting the sector’s crucial role in Ghana’s economic development.

He explained that, the 24-hour economy initiative, a flagship policy of the next NDC government, will lead to a surge in production by companies, which will in turn create an increased demand for raw materials. This, he noted, will have a direct and positive impact on farmers, enabling them to produce more, access a wider market, and ultimately earn higher incomes, thereby improving their livelihoods and contributing to the country’s economic growth.

Sammy Gyamfi also unveiled an innovative solution to revolutionize farming in Ghana. He announced that the NDC government will introduce a ‘Farming Service System’, which will establish ‘Farming Service Centers’ across the country. These centers will provide farmers with access to a wide range of agricultural machinery and equipment, enabling them to boost their productivity. He acknowledged that many farmers lack the knowledge and skills to operate complex machinery like tractors.

To address this, the Farming Service Centers will offer a user-friendly booking system, allowing farmers to reserve a machine of their choice. A team of trained personnel from the center will then visit the farm to operate the machinery, ensuring that farmers can focus on their core activities while still benefiting from modern technology.
