A group of disgruntled employees from the Produce Buying Company of Ghana (PBC) have gathered at Abeka Junction, clad in red and wielding placards with messages demanding improved working conditions and payment of overdue salaries.

The protesters are marching towards the company’s headquarters in Dzorwulu to express their discontent. This demonstration follows a similar protest held by PBC staff in the Ashanti region on May 29, 2024, highlighting the ongoing concerns of workers within the company.

The Pressure Group of PBC Limited, representing distressed employees, is urging state agencies to investigate the company’s management over financial mismanagement.

The workers, who have gone without salaries for twelve months, are seeking relief from the government. The Ashanti regional chapter has specifically requested the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to examine the company’s sample residue account. Meanwhile, a court order obtained by the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) and five other banks has halted the sale of PBC’s assets, including its headquarters at Number 106 Olusegun Obasanjo way, Dworwulu pending a resolution to the crisis.
