The Office of former President John Dramani Mahama has expressed profound satisfaction with the Office of Special Prosecutor’s (OSP) ruling, which clears him of any corrupt activities in the Airbus scandal.

In a statement released after the OSP’s announcement, Mahama’s office praised the ruling as a confirmation of the former president’s commitment to integrity, honesty, and transparency throughout his political career.

Mr. Mahama’s team also addressed the political context of the scandal, criticizing the current government for allegedly using the issue for political leverage.

The statement, signed by the Special Aide to the Former President, Joyce Bawah Mogtari, noted that while the UK’s Serious Fraud Office had previously exonerated Mr. Mahama’s brother and others involved, the ruling government continued to use the scandal as a political tool.

A notable point in the OSP’s ruling, according to Mr. Mahama’s office, was the revelation that President Nana Akufo-Addo had personally requested an investigation into Mahama. This, they argued, casts further doubts on the motivation behind the accusations, suggesting they were aimed at damaging Mahama’s reputation.

“The OSP’s ruling reaffirms what we have always known: John Dramani Mahama is a man of integrity, a leader committed to the principles of honesty and transparency,” part of the statement read.

Mr. Mahama’s office challenged Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and President Akufo-Addo to subject themselves to the same level of scrutiny and transparency, stressing the need for accountability at all levels of leadership.
