Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Member of Parliament for North Tongu, has kept his promise to the Mepe community by providing medical equipment valued at US$1.2 million to the newly constructed health centre.

The donation, presented on his birthday, include a 40-foot shipping container packed with essential medical equipment and supplies, including anesthesia machines, ECG/EKG machines, ultrasound machines, an endoscopy tower, an x-ray machine, and infant incubators and warmers.

The donation also comprised autoclaves, defibrillators, a lab freezer, CPAP machines, labor and delivery beds, operating room lights, suction machines, patient monitors, an oxygen system, pulse oximeters, surgery tables, vaccine storage refrigerators, wheelchairs, sphygmomanometers, and additional items.

The construction of the health centre and the provision of equipment are part of Ablakwa’s broader efforts to aid the North Tongu community in recovering from the devastating spillage from the Akosombo and Kpong Dams last year, which displaced many residents.

Located near a resettlement camp for those displaced by the spillage, the new medical facility is a major milestone in Ablakwa’s plan to upgrade the Mepe Health Centre into a modern hospital by next year.

With the new medical equipment in place, the community is making significant strides toward achieving this objective.

Ablakwa also expressed heartfelt gratitude to his partners, SOS International from the USA, for their continued support and collaboration.

He also recognized the contributions of the Citi FM Foundation and the Ghana Chamber of Mines, who sponsored the construction of the physical facility.
