The Minority in Parliament has formally requested a meeting with the Ghana Police Service in preparation for a second #OccupyBoG demonstration, scheduled to take place in the coming weeks.

This protest aims to demand the resignation of the Governor of the Bank of Ghana and his deputies.

In a petition submitted on Monday, August 12, 2024, Minority Leader Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson emphasized the need for maintaining order during the protest.

He highlighted that the previous #OccupyBoG demonstration was peaceful and expressed the group’s commitment to upholding that standard in the upcoming event.

The Minority noted that the demonstration, originally scheduled for July 30, 2024, conflicted with planning activities for the launch of the NDC’s national campaign in Tamale. Consequently, they requested a rescheduling of the demonstration to Tuesday, August 13, from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, maintaining the original route.

Despite this request, the Minority has yet to receive a response from the Ghana Police Service with just one day remaining before the proposed demonstration.

“In view of the forgoing, the Minority kindly requests a meeting with the Police at a venue and time of your choice, to consider the modalities for our demonstration against the Governor of the Bank of Ghana and his deputies,” the statement read.
