The Public Relations Officer for True Drivers Association, Yaw Barima has said that Dr. Bawumia’s proposal of extending driving license renewal from two to eight years cannot be trusted.

According to him, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has made a lot of promises to commercial transport operators but none has been fulfilled.

In an interview with Sefah-Danquah on Happy 98.9 FM’s Morning Show, Yaw Barima stated that even though the proposal is a good initiative, drivers in this country have never complained about the current situation.

The main concern of drivers that needs immediate attention is the high cost of fuel, but according to them the Vice President has run away from that discussion.

“The reason why we can’t trust Dr. Bawumia is because the Gold for Oil policy that he introduced to reduce the cost of fuel has not yielded any results and we do not know where are we are now. Again, the Vice President promised us on July 5 2024 at Fetteh Kakraba to address road worthy issues that has to do with paying of penalty when the time of the renewal elapses in one week but as at today 14 August 2024, that promise has not been fulfilled, how can we trust this man.” he asked.
