As Colleges of Education Teachers’ Association of Ghana’s (CETAG) prolonged strike enters its 64th day, students of Colleges of Education are taking matters into their own hands, seeking relief from the uncertainty and financial strain. With no end in sight, many have returned home, while those remaining on campus are calling for official closure to alleviate the burden of continued expenses.

In a media engagement, the students lamented the strike has taken a devastating toll on them, who feel their academic future hanging in the balance. With hope dwindling, they’re desperate for a resolution, citing disrupted academic activities and depleted resources. It was revealed a 60% of students have fled deserted campuses, seeking refuge from the financial strain.

Final-year students, however, are adamant that campus closures will only delay their graduation further. Instead, they’re appealing to the government to urgently resolve the strike to allow them return to their studies and graduate on schedule.
