The Electoral Commission (EC) has assured political parties, particularly the National Democratic Congress (NDC), that it will conduct a comprehensive voter exhibition exercise and provide a reliable and accurate voter register for the upcoming December elections. This commitment comes in response to the NDC’s request for the immediate release of the provisional voter register ahead of the exhibition exercise, scheduled for December 7.

Director of Elections for the NDC, Dr. Omane Boamah took to Facebook to express concern about the delayed release of the voter register. He attributed the holdup to the Electoral Commission’s (EC) ineptitude and a deliberate attempt to furnish political parties with a subpar register. Omane Boamah warned that the delay has sparked deep concern among the NDC and other stakeholders, fearing that the EC’s incompetence and IT Department’s bungling could precipitate chaos in Ghana if left unchecked.

In a media interview on Wednesday, August 14, Director of Training at the Electoral Commission (EC), Dr. Serebuor Quaicoe addressed concerns. He dismissed allegations made by the NDC and urged all stakeholders to be patient and collaborative during the exhibition process, ensuring that any issues are resolved.

Dr. Quaicoe assured political parties that the EC is committed to delivering a high-quality final register upon completion of the exhibition exercise.
