Interior Minister Henry Quartey has dismissed allegations that he tried to bribe opposition MPs by offering them recruitment slots for their constituents in the security services, calling the claims baseless.

In a media interview on Wednesday, August 15, NDC National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia popularly known as General Mosquito accused Interior Minister Henry Quartey of attempting to bribe NDC lawmakers by offering them slots to recruit their constituents into the security services. According to Asiedu Nketia, the alleged offer was aimed at silencing NDC legislators who were opposing the recruitment of approximately 10,000 ‘NPP party loyalists” into the police force.

Henry Quartey acknowledged that he had notified his fellow colleagues about the opening of recruitment portals for security services, advising them to inform their constituents to obtain the necessary forms before the official public announcement.

He clarified that his notification to colleagues about the security service recruitment portals was merely a goodwill gesture, devoid of any intention to bribe opposition MPs. He denied allegations by General Mosquito, stating that he never requested lists of constituents from the MPs, contrary to claims made.
