The Ashanti Regional Communications Director of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Abass Nurudeen has expressed his disappointment and frustration with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) led government for failing the people of Ashanti Region. Despite the NPP’s claims that the region is their stronghold, Nurudeen argues that they have not done enough to improve the lives of the people.

In an interview with an Accra-based radio station monitored by Happyghana.com on Monday August 26, Nurudeen emphasized that the NPP government’s mismanagement of the economy has led to a high rate of poverty in the country.

He cited a recent survey that revealed a staggering 7.3 million people have been pushed into Multidimensional Poverty under the NPP’s watch. What’s even more alarming, he noted, is that 980,000 of those individuals are from the Ashanti Region, which is supposed to be the NPP’s stronghold.

Nurudeen finds it surprising and unacceptable that the region that is supposed to be the NPP’s base is now leading in poverty rates. He believes that the NPP government should have done more to support the region, given their claims of a strong connection to the people.

However, Nurudeen remains hopeful that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) can turn things around. He assured that the NDC’s newly launched manifesto offers practical solutions to address the economic challenges facing the country. He promises that an NDC administration will prioritize the welfare of the people, particularly in the Ashanti Region, and work tirelessly to lift Ghana out of poverty and economic hardship.
