National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia has issued a strong warning to senior security officers against carrying out orders from the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) that could result in the loss of lives during the December 7 elections.

He cautioned that any individual found complicit in attempts to subvert the will of electorates, who he believes have already decided to vote out the NPP, will face consequences under the next NDC government.

He has issued a warning to security officers who may be tempted to use excessive force against citizens during the upcoming elections. His comments come after the deaths of eight protesters who demonstrated against the Electoral Commission’s conduct during the 2020 election. Asiedu Nketia made the remarks on Thursday, August 29, while campaigning in the Ayensuano constituency’s Amanase area as part of his Eastern regional tour

He declared that the next NDC government possesses comprehensive records and evidence of the officers’ actions and will hold them accountable for their roles in the violence. Asiedu Nketia’s statement underscores the party’s commitment to justice and accountability for the victims and their families.
