Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has emphasized that the upcoming December poll is a crucial choice between the NPP and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), with the country’s future hanging in the balance. Addressing supporters at the Kaneshie market in the Okaikwei South Constituency as part of his Greater Accra Regional tour on Wednesday, September 4, Dr. Bawumia highlighted the NDC’s past failures under John Dramani Mahama’s leadership, citing the devastating electricity crisis (Dumsor) that plagued the nation, the cancellation of teacher and nursing trainee allowances, and other missteps that hindered the country’s progress.

In contrast, Dr. Bawumia showcased the NPP’s achievements since 2016, including the successful digitalization of the economy, which has transformed the way Ghanaians live and work. He also highlighted the introduction of Mobile Money Interoperability, a revolutionary innovation that enables easy transfers between accounts and banks, and the online renewal of National Health Insurance, which has made healthcare more accessible to all.

Dr. Bawumia also outlined the NPP’s future plans, including a comprehensive reform of the import duty regime at the Port, aimed at reducing cost and boosting trade. He promised to introduce a flat tax rate to help businesses thrive, ensure that Ghana’s import duty is equivalent to Togo’s, and establish an SME Bank to provide financial assistance to traders and entrepreneurs.

Dr. Bawumia urged the constituents of Okaikwei South to vote for the NPP in December, promising continued progress and development under his leadership. He emphasized that the country’s future depends on their vote and encouraged them to choose wisely.
