Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has stated that the construction industry thrived under the NDC administration, attributing its success to non-discriminatory policies in awarding contracts.
Speaking at a mini durbar at the Oyibi Community Center in the Kpone Katamanso constituency during phase two of his Greater Accra campaign, Mr. Mahama highlighted that during the NDC’s tenure, contracts were given to all qualified contractors, regardless of their political affiliation.
He contrasted this with the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration, claiming that under the NPP, contracts are awarded based on party loyalty.
Mr. Mahama assured that, should the NDC return to power, they would reverse this trend, ensuring equal opportunities for all contractors.
He emphasized that the construction industry flourished under his leadership due to the heavy investment in infrastructure, and contractors were paid promptly upon submitting their certificates.
He criticized the current system, claiming that under the NPP, payment delays are now influenced by political affiliations.
