The ongoing nationwide demonstration organized by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has reportedly taken an odd turn, after the police fired tear gas to break the rage of NDC supporters against law enforcement officers.
The reason for the clash which remains undisclosed, is believed to have started with an altercation between the police and protesters.
One protestor due to the flaring tensions has sustained injuries and has been rushed to the nearest hospital for immediate medical attention.
At the sight of this, other protesters attempted to attack a police officer who sought refuge in a nearby house. Another officer was injured after being assaulted by protesters.
Authorities are working to abate tensions and restore order in the area.
