The chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Jean Mensah has emphasized that the current Provisional register to be presented to political parties today is more accurate and different than the one presented in August 2024.

According to her, the commission has devoted the past few weeks to correct any discrepancies in the voters register.

Speaking at the Inter Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) as part of efforts to ensure transparency and accountability in the electoral process, the chairperson said the commission used a four points approach in cleaning the register.

The four points include

  1. Voters who visited exhibition centres and or viewed their details via electronic media and detected errors with their details visited the commission’s district offices and had their issues rectified.
  2. The commission’s exhibition officers in all the over 40,000 exhibition centres scrutinized the register and reported descripancies for corrections by the Commission’s IT team.
  3. The Commission’s field staff at district and regional levels also relied on the register viewer (soft copy of the register on their machines) to scrutinized the register and correct discrepancies.
  4. The commission’s IT staff also utilized register viewer to scrutinize the register and correct descripancies.

” This approach has been very effective in helping to clean the register and erode it of descripancies, as mentioned earlier, the descripancies detected have been largely corrected”.
