Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has vowed to reintroduce free sanitary pads for female students in junior and senior high schools if he is voted for again as president.

Speaking at his fellowship with the clergy in East Legon on Tuesday, 1st of October, 2024, the former president emphasized that his government, “will provide female students who are off age in JHS and SHS with sanitary towels to enable them stay in school during their menstrual period.

According to Mr. Mahama, his government will also introduce a policy that’ll help provide free primary healthcare for all Ghanaians.

“This will include clinics, health centers and poly clinics so for any Ghanaian who visits any if these levels of healthcare centers you won’t pay anything” he said.

He stated that this applies to both Ghanaians with or without the national health insurance card.

“You only need your national health insurance card for the secondary and tertiary levels of the health system for the district hospitals and teaching hospitals, all you need to do is use your Ghana health card but for all the lower rural health facilities we won’t bother to ask you for your health cards as long as you are Ghanaian you can access free healthcare” he highlighted.
