GAF debunks misleading social media audio

The Ghana Armed Forces is expected to lead an “Operation Halt” campaign to clamp down illegal mining on all river bodies

This Operation will be done in conjunction with the Small-Scale Miners Association of Ghana.

This was contained in a press statement released on Wednesday October 9th, 2024 and signed by the Minister of Information, Fatimatu Abubakar.

In the statement, the government reiterates its commitment to the fight against illegal mining and calls on all stakeholders to join the fight.

“Government in its continued efforts to clamp down on the long-standing menace of Illegal Small-Scale Mining, has concluded operational measures to intensify the ongoing
“Operation Halt” which is led by the Ghana Armed forces”, the statement added.

Government reasserts that river bodies and forest reserves remain red zones.
