The South Tongu District Education Director, Celestine Kosi Agodo, has called for fair treatment of teachers, emphasizing that they should not be denied their basic rights and entitlements.

She stressed that teachers working in deprived and rural areas need better support to ensure they can develop professionally and improve their quality of life.

She pointed out that restoring allowances for teachers in these underserved areas would help them feel valued and recognized. She added that with such incentives, teachers would no longer perceive postings to rural areas as a punishment but rather as an opportunity to serve their communities.

Teachers in the district are also calling for improved salaries to reflect their efforts and dedication, particularly in challenging environments. They argue that without adequate support, it becomes difficult to perform effectively.

The educators insist that authorities must prioritize their welfare to foster motivation and retention. They believe that with better working conditions and professional development opportunities, they can deliver quality education, regardless of their location.
