Stakeholders should show concern for accident victims – Rev. Cyril Crabbe

President and founder of the Accident Victim Support Foundation Ghana, Rev. Cyrile Crabbe, has decried the little to no attention given by the Ghanaian society to accident victims. The spectacle, he says is worsening by the day and would get out of hand if nothing is done immediately.

With the number of people becoming incapacitated through road crashes increasing on a yearly basis, the road safety advocate, has suggested key stakeholders take keen interest, not just in attempts to bring down the number but also institute interventions to cater for victims and in some cases families of victims of accidents.

Accident Victims Support, a social intervention organization that seeks to alleviate the plight and suffering of road crash victims across the country and beyond and also promote road safety, is the foremost organization that provides selective support for some accident victims across the country. The burden, according to Rev. Cyril Crabbe, is huge for just a single not-for-profit organization to carry.

Speaking to happyghana.com on the sidelines of a fundraising event at the Mudor Hall of the Bukom Arena in Accra on Friday 18th of October, 2024 to raise Ghc5 million for the construction of an ultra-modern accident victims’ home, he said the time has come for all to contribute to alleviate the sufferings of accident victims.

He said a country’s character is seen in the way it treats the vulnerable and not the rich. He has thus called for an all hands on deck approach to supporting accident victims.
