Minority Leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has announced that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will leverage its new majority in Parliament to introduce a private member’s bill aimed at scrapping the E-Levy and other nuisance taxes.

Addressing a press conference on Sunday, October 20, 2024, Dr. Forson emphasized the party’s long-standing commitment to representing the interests of ordinary Ghanaians in Parliament.

He indicated that with the new majority, the NDC is focused on easing the burden on citizens by eliminating taxes such as the E-Levy and the betting tax, which he said are negatively impacting the livelihood and survival of many.
He assured the public that the NDC’s agenda includes protecting businesses and ensuring policies that benefit the people.

Dr. Forson also expressed confidence in the leadership of the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, highlighting his 32-year career as a courageous and resolute leader. He affirmed the NDC’s support for the Speaker, praising his firm and lawful decisions while urging Ghanaians to stand with the Speaker in defense of parliamentary integrity.

The Minority Leader reiterated that the NDC remains committed to its promise of fighting for the well-being of Ghanaians. He declared that the party is prepared to begin efforts to reverse what he described as the “Akufo-Addo-Bawumia mess” and restore the country to a sustainable path.
