Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Vice Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has announced that if Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is elected President in 2025, nurses in Ghana will benefit from duty-free importation of vehicles with engine capacities under 1.8 litres.

Speaking at the Korle Bu Nursing and Midwifery Training Institute, Napo outlined this promise as part of the NPP’s broader plan to reduce the financial pressures faced by nurses.

“Dr. Bawumia, the incoming president of Ghana, will provide free duty on vehicles with engine capacities less than 1.8 capacity for nurses,” NAPO said.

Napo emphasized the NPP’s strong recognition of the vital role nurses play in healthcare across the country.

He assured that under a Bawumia-led NPP government, policies would be introduced to improve the livelihoods of nurses.

“The NPP recognises and appreciates the key roles that our nurses play in the provision of healthcare to the people, so we shall also make sure that your lives will be better. As I said already, there will be free importation of vehicles with engines less than 1.8 capacity for our dear nurses among other important interventions to make you (nurses) live better and comfortably” he emphasized.
