Dennis Miracle Aboagye, Director of Communications for the Bawumia Campaign has acknowledges that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is unlikely to win in the Volta Region in the 2024 election.

However, he is optimistic that the party’s political influence in the region will see a notable increase.

His comments follow, NPP Presidential Candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s Volta regional tour.

Speaking in an interview on an Accra based radio station he said, “The Ghanaian voter today wants development and that is why they will vote for NPP. We’re not going to win in the Volta region and that one I will be very honest with you but the votes we had in 2020, we will poll three times for Dr Bawumia on December 7”.

According to him, the NPP’s strong developmental track record has impressed voters in the Volta Region and gained their support.

“There have been a lot of projects in the Volta region. Talk of the Ho town roads which now look like abroad, the GH₵14 million Ho Central ultramodern market and Hohoe enclave. Recently, South Dayi MP, Rockson Dafeamekpor attested to the development in his constituency and was convinced the people will certainly vote for NPP” he emphasized.

In the 2020 elections, the NPP received 101,084 votes, accounting for 14.1% of the total.

Ahead of the upcoming December 7 election, the party has set a target of 300,000 votes.
