Alan Kyerematen touted as key to industrialization and job creation in Ghana

The Political Aide to Alan Kyerematen, Nana Yaw Sarpong, has asserted that Alan Kyerematen is the sole figure capable of effectively championing industrialization and driving job creation in Ghana.

Mr. Sarpong argued that Mr. Kyerematen’s expertise in trade and industry, particularly his role in securing Ghana’s position as host of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) secretariat, is proof of his dedication to economic growth through strategic trade initiatives.

AfCFTA, which consolidates the African continent’s market into a single $270 billion e-commerce space, has placed Ghana at the center of Africa’s trade integration efforts, and Alan Kyerematen’s leadership in bringing this opportunity to the country has been hailed as critical.

He criticized the current government for economic management stating that Ghana’s banking sector, which was in need of about 9 billion cedis to remain stable, received insufficient support from the government. Instead, more than 20 billion cedis was used in a restructuring exercise that ultimately resulted in widespread job losses. According to him, the government’s approach led to economic instability and unemployment, issues he argued could have been avoided if the banking sector had been effectively managed and supported.

Mr. Sarpong underscored that the approach to Ghana’s economy needs to focus on building a resilient industrial sector, rather than implementing policies that disrupt industries and lead to job losses. He argued that Alan Kyerematen’s vision for Ghana, centered on industrial growth and strategic support for key sectors, remains the most viable path to sustainable economic development. By fostering industrialization and creating a conducive environment for businesses to grow, Kyerematen is seen as uniquely positioned to address Ghana’s economic challenges and provide meaningful employment opportunities for the nation’s youth.
