Former Black Stars striker, Anthony Yeboah has recounted an incident where a management member of the the Black Stars demanded money from him after recommending a player.

According Anthony Yeboah, part of the problem in the current Black Stars can be attributed to officials asking for money before they invite players.

He alleged that there are some talents that can help the team but are not given the opportunity because they don’t have the money to pay their way into the Black Stars.

Anthony Yeboah told Happy Sports in an exclusive interview that he as a former player has encountered this problem before hence his decision to stay away.

“Players are not called on merit but based on who can pay and that’s a problem. I once recommended a player for the team but the management member requested for money from me,” Anthony Yeboah said on Happy FM.

The Black Stars’ disqualification to the 2025 AFCON in Morocco was confirmed on Friday, November 15, 2024, following the team’s 1-1 draw against Angola.
