The Electoral Commission has announced that, the Ahafo and Volta Region ballot papers which were faulted would be shredded and incinerated.

“As has always been the case, the affected ballot papers will be shredded and incinerated (burned).

According to the Electoral Commission, both activities will be witnessed by Agents of political Parties and a destruction certificate will be issued and signed by them.

The EC added that, to ensure a high level of professionalism and to maintain global standards at all levels of the electoral process, it took the decision to reprint the affected ballot papers.

The commission also mentioned that, the challenges associated with the serialisation were brought to their attention by their team stationed at the said printing House and also confirmed by Auditors of the commission.

“No Political Party, whether formally or informally notified the commission about the challenges with serialisation at the Printing House, even though their agents were present throughout the process”.

The commission noted that, the decision to dispose of the printed ballot papers was based solely on reports from the EC Team stationed at the said Printing House and confirmed by its Audit Department.
