The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for the Gomoa East Constituency, Kojo Asemanyi, has denied allegations by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) regarding a leaked audio recording.

The Gomoa East NDC Executives accused Mr. Asemanyi, a former Member of Parliament, of secretly meeting officials of the Gomoa East Electoral Commission (EC) to plot election rigging. The alleged claims are reportedly based on a 23 minute leaked audio recording.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday November 26, Kojo Asemanyi described the circulating audio as doctored, claiming it was deliberately manipulated to damage his reputation and derail his campaign efforts. He emphatically denied ever meeting with the EC officials and called on NPP supporters and the public to disregard the audio, labeling it a fabrication by political opponents seeking to advance their personal agendas.

“It is evident that certain voices were manipulated and pieced together with the sole intention of tarnishing my hard-won reputation and undermine the success of my campaign thus far. I wish to categorically refute the authenticity of the said audio and veracity of the supposed meeting with the electoral officials”, he said.

Mr. Asemanyi reiterated his commitment to a clean and transparent electoral process, emphasizing that his campaign complies fully with Ghana’s electoral laws and upholds the highest standards of integrity. He disclosed that the matter has been reported to the police for investigation and referred to his legal team for potential legal action against those responsible for what he called a baseless attack.

He further urged constituents of Gomoa East to support the NPP in its efforts to reclaim the parliamentary seat from the NDC and to ensure the election of Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia as the next President of Ghana.

“Let me assure my supporters and well-wishers that I am in high spirits and fully focused on our collective goal of snatching the Gomoa East seat and making Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia the next President of Ghana”, he said.
