The future of Black Stars Head Coach Otto Addo remains uncertain as the Ghana Football Association (GFA) engages in consultations with key stakeholders, including government, to determine his fate.

Speaking in an interview on Happy FM, GFA Communications Director Henry Asante Twum confirmed that no decision has been made following a tense review meeting by the GFA Executive Council (ExCo) last Wednesday.

“The ExCo could not reach a decision, and discussions with relevant parties are ongoing. As of now, there’s no decision on Otto Addo’s future but I’m sure at the appropriate time, whatever decision will be taken will be relayed to the public,” he revealed.

The 47-year-old coach is under mounting pressure after Ghana failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, marking a historic setback for a nation that had been a tournament regular for over two decades. Ghana ended their qualifying campaign at the bottom of their group, failing to secure a single win in six matches against Niger, Angola, and Sudan.

According to reports, the four-hour ExCo meeting exposed divisions within the council. Some members pushed for Addo’s dismissal, citing his failure to meet key performance indicators (KPIs) and issues with team management.

Others advocated for patience, attributing Ghana’s struggles to broader structural issues and urging the FA to give Addo and his technical team another chance to address their shortcomings.

Complicating the situation is the financial cost of terminating Addo’s contract. The government, which funds the salaries of national team coaches, will play a significant role in determining whether the coach is retained or dismissed.
