Police investigates 88 intercepted persons in two metro mass transit buses at Benchema

The Ghana Police Service has commenced investigations into some eighty eight (88) individuals who were intercepted at Benchema in the western North Region.

The eighty eight(88) persons were onboard two (2) metro mass transit buses when police stopped them on Tuesday December 3,2024.

“The Ghana Police Service is investigating some 88 individuals on board two Metro Mass Transit buses intercepted at Benchema near Asawinso in the Western North Region, on Tuesday, 3rd December 2024”.

According to a statement by the police, preliminary investigation indicated that, these persons were allegedly recruited by one Sammy to help provide security at polling stations within some constituencies in the Western North Region.

The statement from the police further mentioned that, these 88 persons were recruited from various locations within the Greater Accra region.

The areas include; Adenta, Oyarifa, and Madina.

“The suspects are currently in custody assisting with the investigation”.

The Police also noted that, efforts are underway to identify Sammy, the person behind these 88 person’s recruitment to assist in further investigations.

“Strenuous efforts are underway to get the said Sammy who allegedly recruited these individuals to assist in the conduct of the investigation”.
